Inside Sales Representative

ServerCentral in Chicago, IL is seeking an Inside Salesperson. The position requires technical knowledge of common equipment used in a datacenter environment, which includes servers, firewalls, network switches, as well as the different varieties of UNIX-based and Windows Server operating systems.

ServerCentral specializes in bandwidth intensive and high end collocation. We have datacenters located throughout the U.S. and International locations. Our main datacenter and headquarters are here in Chicago.  .

What you'll be doing:

1. Fielding telephone and email inquiries on the sale of dedicated servers and per-server colocation
2. Negotiating and subsequently issuing quotes, sales orders, and contract paperwork to customers
3. Working with Finance, IP Engineering, and Datacenter Operations groups to process and complete customer orders
4. Providing feedback on product direction when we refresh our product lineup (once or twice annually)
5. Demonstrating the ability to gather and submit detailed business information for, pricing, and presentation of solutions tailored to customer’s business needs
6. Maintaining accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities
7. Adhering to company policies, procedures and business ethics codes

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

1. Thorough understanding of computer hardware - how it's built, why it breaks, and when/why to sell hardware upgrades
2. Good understanding of basic routing, firewalls, and "how the Internet works"
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
4. The ability to prepare and deliver written proposals with limited supervision
5. In-depth knowledge of sales process including, pricing, and selling strategies
6. Effective time management, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills
